Get your checkbook out: Marilyn Monroe’s iconic bubblegum colored dress from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes is up for auction.
The dazzling strapless satin dress will be auctioned by Profiles In History auction house in California from June 10 – 12, 2010. This piece of American cinema history is expected to grab at least a $250,000 price tag. Considering, however, that the gold beaded gown Marylin wore to sing Happy Birthday to President Kennedy in 1962 was snatched for well over $1million, the expectation for the pink dress might be a tad undervalued.
The auction from June 10 – 12 will also feature the Wicked Witch of the West’s hat from the 1939 Wizard of Oz, Johnny Depp’s Scissorhands from Edward Scissorhands, and Darth Vader’s light saber from Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. Elvis Presley’s clothing and a guitar and Steve McQueen’s shotgun from The Magnificent Seven are also being auctioned.
