Red Carpet Jewelry: MTV Movie Awards

The jewelry at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards did not manage to catch as much attention as the amount of spray tans present, Katy Perry’s blue wig, and the most talked about accessory of the night – Lindsay Lohan’s alcohol-monitoring ankle bracelet. Nevertheless, some of the accessories were noteworthy.

Most of the ladies in attendance kept their looks classic by wearing delicate jewelry. It is a trend that I have been noticing, which makes me wonder about the future of statement necklaces and earrings. Kristen Stewart, for example, wore a small pendant suspended from a chain, and Elizabeth Reaser wore pretty but simple gold hoops. Many girls entrusted the shine to their bangles, such as Lilly Collins, Audrina Patridge, Eva Mendes and Lindsay Lohan. The latter, you will see below, wore a creative (to put it delicately) jumpsuit that was both practical and fashion (warning: we use the term loosely for Lindsay): since she has been ordered to wear an alcohol-monitoring device on her ankle, Lindsay opted for incredible long and wide legs, and a décolletage that almost went down to her navel.

Christina Aguilera outfit was completely over the top on the red carpet in a short Versace Atelier creation, with chain and feathery patterns, accessorized with Stephen Webster jewels and dramatic makeup.

Surprisingly, it was the guys who wore some of the most daring pieces of jewelry of the evening. Russell Brand and Shawn White wore statement necklaces on bare chests. And Puffy (is that what he goes by now?) brought back the hip-hop medallion. The cast of Jersey Shore went for diamond studs and oversized watches.
